Rainy Day Activities for Babies and Young Toddlers

In San Diego, we pride ourselves on beautiful weather much of the year. But when it rains, everything seems to come to a standstill. It’s like we’re afraid to go out (we may melt?), but also people can be really horrible drivers in the rain so it’s just as well that we stay in.

I went online this morning to see if there were any Rainy Day activities for babies (there’s only so much Sesame Street we can watch in a day). And I thought I’d post some here real quick for other Twin Mamas in potential distress because we’re spending the day indoors.

Rainy Day Activities for Babies (from Parents.com)

*Assemble a miniature obstacle course, with pillows and hula hoops to crawl over, around and through.

*Let your baby feel different temperatures, such as a warm towel from the dryer, the coolness of an ice cube, and a warm, wet washcloth (just be sure to check the temperature first).

*Take out a new book or toy to enjoy or discover.

What are your favorite tips and ideas for babies and small toddlers to enjoy a rainy day inside?

  1. Well, we are going to brave the roads and head to My Kid’s Clubhouse in Bonita to play!

But when we stay home we set up trains and legos. Anything is more fun when Mom plays!
