Help Critically-Ill San Diegans Receive Home-Cooked Meals…Buy a Pie!

Nothing says holidays like a handcrafted pumpkin, apple, or pecan pie. But it’s not even Halloween yet. So why am I (and other mama bloggers including Mira Mesa Mom, Nacho Mama, and San Diego Momfia) peddling pies now? It’s all for a good cause.

Mama’s Kitchen is the only organization that prepares and delivers free nutritious home-cooked meals for every day of the year throughout San Diego County to men, women, and children affected by AIDS or cancer. Now through November 20, I am participating in Mama’s Pie in the Sky — the largest bake sale on the west coast!

Here are my top three reasons why you should buy a pie to support Mama’s Kitchen:

  1. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Your $20 pie purchase stays right here in San Diego to help women going through chemotherapy who are too sick to cook for themselves. When you think pink, think PIE.
  2. Each $20 pie sale will provide SIX meals for Mama’s Kitchen clients. That is two days worth of meals!
  3. Don’t want a pie for yourself? Buy one (or more) pies that will be delivered to Mama’s Kitchen’s clients! When you purchase a pie for clients, you will enter the Love-A-Client Raffle for an 64MB iPad2. The more pies you buy for the clients the more chances you have to win!
But don’t take my word for it. Take a peek at what Sam the Cooking Guy and Elizabeth Harris from Elizabethan Desserts have to say:

So, please buy a pie from me?

And if not because I asked, but because of this cuteness here?
